Senior Visitor ProgramSenior citizens on limited incomes are often faced with making difficult choices between purchasing medicines, paying rent, or purchasing food. North County’s Food Bank helps seniors avoid this painful decision though the Senior Program, which helps individuals, stretch their food budgets and make ends meet. North County's Food Bank serves dozens of low income seniors through a weekly program that allows local seniors to visit every Thursday and “shop” for free. A Community Story In March of 2008, an elderly gentleman was having some blood work done at Tri-City Medical Center and asked if they could feed him, as he had not eaten in a few days. Hearing this the hospital Chaplin contacted North County's Food Bank, and was able to provide this senior citizen with an emergency food box that day. In addition, the Chaplin signed up his church to become a regular agency that uses the food bank program and he will be able to continue to provide food to seniors in his community.
