In our research to continue support for North County’s Food Bank, our findings on food shortages faced by low to extremely low-income families went beyond North County but also showed statistics for food bank needs nationwide. It’s hard to imagine how many people on daily basis go without the comfort of a warm meal.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. households suffering from food insecurity in 2007 was estimated at 11.1%, meaning that out of those 12.8 million households affected by food shortage one or more adults went without food, simply due to lack of funds for the household.
